I am Gean.
I have been a psychotherapist for decades, and much of that time has been spent with people living with trauma. I trained in CBT and EMDR, and I work in person and online.
Psychotherapy for trauma, and for what it leaves behind.
If something happened and it has not let go of you, you are in the right place. The same is true if you cannot say what is wrong, only that something is.
You do not need to have the words for it yet. Finding them is part of the work.

- Anxiety
- Depression
- Grief
- The aftermath of childhood abuse
- Anger
I see adults, older adults, and young people from the age of twelve.
How I work
I listen first. Most of the work is conversation, at your pace, paying close attention to what keeps coming back. Where a method helps, I use it.
- CBT
- Cognitive behavioural therapy looks at how thoughts, feelings and the things we do feed one another, and how to loosen the loops that keep distress going.
- EMDR
- EMDR helps the brain process memories that have got stuck, so they stop arriving as though they were happening now. NICE recommends it, alongside trauma-focused CBT, for post-traumatic stress. NICE guideline NG116
How starting works
Join the waiting list
Your name and email, nothing else.
I get in touch
When a place opens I contact you directly, and we find a time.
A first session
You talk, I listen. There is nothing to prepare, and nothing to decide in the room.
Working together
Fifty minutes, usually weekly, reviewed as we go rather than fixed in advance.
Questions people ask
How long is the wait?
It varies, and I would rather not give a number I cannot keep to. When a place opens I contact people in order.
Online or in person?
Both. Neither is second best.
I have tried psychotherapy before and it did not help.
Say so in the first session. Knowing what did not work tells me a good deal about where to start.
Is it confidential?
Yes, within the limits every therapist works to. If someone is at serious risk I may have to act, and I will tell you if we reach that point.
