The short version
No analytics, no advertising, no third-party scripts, no tracking, and no cookies, which is why you are not asked to accept any. The only information you can give the site is what you type into a form, and each form passes it straight on.
The forms
Keeping out spam
Every form carries a check that it was filled in by a person. Your browser works through a small calculation while you type, using a challenge from this site; nothing is sent to anyone else, no cookie is set, and nothing about how you move or type is recorded. To stop one connection sending hundreds of messages, the site also counts how many forms arrive from each IP address. The address is scrambled with a secret key before it is counted, so the count does not show it, and the count is deleted within the hour.
Contact
Your first and last name, your email, your phone number if you give one, what your enquiry is about and any notes are sent to Gean by email through Resend. Nothing is stored on the website. Ordinary email is not a confidential channel, so please leave out anything you would rather say in person.
Psychotherapy waiting list
You are sent one email with one link in it. Nothing about you is added to the list until you press it: if you never do, you are on no list and nothing more is sent. When you do, your name and email are added to the list, which Resend runs. Your phone number and any note are emailed to Gean and never go on the list. Every email she sends carries a link to leave it. The form never asks what you are seeking help for.
Book announcements
A separate list, used only to tell you when a book is out, and it works the same way: your email is added only once you press the link in the confirmation email. Which book you asked about is emailed to Gean.
Heal
Before the app was ready, the site kept a third list of people who asked to be told when it was. It no longer takes new names. If you are on it, it is used only for that, and you can leave it from any email it sends.
Heal feedback and requests
Your name if you give one, your email, what it is about and your message are sent to Gean by email through Resend, so she can reply. Nothing is stored on the website and you join no list.
Recordings and video
The artwork and previews on the Heal page come from Supabase, which stores the recordings for the site and the app, so it sees your browser’s request the way any server does. A preview is fetched only when you press play. Nothing records what you listened to.
Where a video appears on the site, nothing at all is requested from YouTube until you press play: until then you are looking at an image served from this site. Pressing play loads the player from youtube-nocookie.com, which does not set YouTube’s usual advertising cookies, and at that point Google will see your request as they would on any site. If you never press play, they never hear from you.
Who else is involved
Kadeashiq Limited (kadeashiq.co, company number 17152090) holds and handles the information described in this policy on our behalf, as our data processor, acting only on our instructions. We remain responsible for it, and any request about your information comes to us. These are the services used to do it:
- Vercel hosts the site and keeps short-lived server logs, which include IP addresses.
- Resend delivers the email from the forms.
- Resend also runs the three lists.
- Supabase holds the book listings and the Heal recordings, and the scrambled counts that keep out spam for up to an hour. It holds nothing else about you.
Why, and for how long
Contact messages are handled because you asked for a reply, and kept as long as that takes. The lists rest on your consent and last until you unsubscribe or the list is closed. Leaving one list does not take you off the others. A confirmation link lasts fourteen days, and if it is never pressed, nothing is kept.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what is held, or for it to be corrected or deleted, by emailing help@steps-to-rational-living.co.uk. You will have an answer within a month. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner at ico.org.uk.

This policy covers the website only. Records of psychotherapy are handled separately under her professional obligations. The Heal app has its own policy.
